GymStar is a recreational and competitive gymnastics program suitable for boys and girls.
The main objective for this class is to polish the foundational skills laid in the previous classes and to increase agility, flexibly and strength with emphasis on execution of skills rather than difficulty. The program encourages gymnasts to develop resilience, improve their skill technique and have positive interactions with their teammates. Gymnasts also get the opportunity to compete in gymnastics competitions in a positive and supportive environment.
At Moonee Valley, we cater for GymStar levels two to seven. Gymnasts will be placed in the appropriate program based on their ability. Our GymStar program requires a minimal number of training hours per week and is an all-inclusive program for both male and female gymnasts across a range of apparatus including beam, bars, vault, floor, rings, and p-bars. Within the GymStar program, emphasis is placed on skill execution and routines in addition to the development of new skills.
GymStar competitions
Gymnasts in the GymStar program are expected to attend competitions in various locations across Melbourne. These competitions are great opportunities for gymnasts to develop and perform their skills. The competition season is generally held between June and October and competitions are usually held on Sundays. GymStar participants are expected to attend a minimum of two competitions per year, however this is not compulsory.
